Dear folks;
Please accept our deepest sympathy at the loss of your mom, grandma and great grandmother. I am so sorry we did not make it to the funeral. I just learned of her passing after the fact. Isn’t that ironic! It used to be Anna’s newspaper we read to keep up with the obituaries, and even though we were worried about accidents each time she drove out of our lane , we did miss her paper for keeping up with just this sort of thing. We seldom had time to read anything else in the newspaper, but we did manage to be aware of events in the community.
Anna was a good, friendly neighbour. She was always visiting or asking us in for a visit, phoning to chat, always asking about our boys and where they were and how they were doing, always wanting to learn more about the neighbourhood – just a good, friendly person.
i will always remember her jewellry. She sure enjoyed wearing such wonderful pieces of jewellry. I will always remember her stories about the old days too and when they first came to Canada. She was an interesting person. When she moved from the house to the Villa, we missed her. But we seldom took or had the time to visit her in her new home. Isn’t that the way it goes.
I will never forget the day she came over after one of her trips to Holland and handed me a gift. I unwrapped it and it was a china container, 4 coffee spoons and then 4 taller spoons. I told her I knew what the coffee spoons were but wasn’t sure what the taller spoons were for. She said that they were for “mucks”. I wasn’t sure what “mucks” were so I had to ask her to explain it. I thought it was a special drink or something like that from Holland. But when we finally got on the same page, it turned out they were for use in “mugs” and I was totally out to lunch on what she was saying. My fault, but we laughed together about that. I often tell the story of the “mucks” when I use those spoons!
Yes, she was a great lady and I am so pleased we were priviledged to know her.
God bless each of you.
