Condolence from Cindy Taylor on January 20th, 2011 9:28 AM

My deepest sympathies to the Bayley and Otter families.
Ann was a dignified , kind and generous lady. So very proud of her blended family. I feel fortunate to have known her, worked with her and worked for her. I never saw her without a smile on her face. She would always quietly ask about your well being, never boasting about her own, or her life accomplishments – and they were many.
She fought a brave and courageous battle, her head held high, with grace and dignity.
Ann was the only person I know that was able to, after becoming weary of office work, sit up straight at her desk, close her eyes and have a 15 minute power nap, rejuvenate and then carry on with her day.
To all that loved her – hold your memories close to your heart and she will always be with you.

Julian, I’m so sorry to hear this news. Leigh and Christine, such fond memories at your place Leigh and Christine as you were growing up as I had the pleasure of baysitting you both. Your Mom would come home from being out and the first thing she’d ask with a wide smile is “Did you all have a great time”? I respected your Mom more than you’ll ever know. She would even ask what my future aspirations were as young teenager and suggested strategies on how to get there faster! I’ll never forget the impact she had on me. Treasure all of the wonderful times together. I’m sure there are many. You’ve all been so blessed to have such a one-of-a-kind, devoted and caring Mother in your life.
So sorry…Hugs, Vicki (Mann) Hayter

Condolence from Elli Morris on January 22nd, 2011 11:12 PM

Ann and Julian you have been – and will continue to be – a part of my daily existence each winter since you saved my life when I was in Canada. Every day I go out and have no fear the freezing temps will make me sick, my heart lifts in celebration because of your generosity. I cannot describe the sorrow I feel at Ann not being in her house and not talking to Mason and not hearing her kind voice come through any more emails. Nor can I imagine the loss her family feels as I was only in her presence for a mere week. Yet touched by her love I was indeed. Much strength and fortitude to you all.

Condolence from Lorna Virgo on January 23rd, 2011 3:47 PM

Dear Christine Rose, Thank you for the email telling me of Ann’s sad death.

It is an awful time in your life when someone you love has died.
I assume you are Ann’s daughter and one of the blended family I heard both Julian and Ann referred to?
I have only met Julian and Ann on two occasions and we shared three evenings out.
I am Lorna Virgo the widow now of Gilbert Stace Virgo who Julian knows as ‘Jim’. They met as young men when joining the British Army in 1955 and became the best of friends. Despite time and distance, their friendship continued till the day Stace passed away in December 2005. Julian was one of my husband’s best friends.
In 1955 National Army Service was compulsory in the UK for 18 year olds but Stace (as I knew him), decided to do three years in the British Army instead of 2 years National Service Training. Stace said the Army paid double the wage for three years of service compared to two years National Training.
I don’t know the reason that Julian did Army Service for 3 years but above was Stace’s version.
I met Ann and Julian in November 2002 when I took a phone call about 5pm one afternoon. The two men hadn’t met up since the 1970’s in London.
Stace had migrated to New Zealand with his first wife and two children and I believe Julian went to Canada.
I was Stace’s 3rd wife and we met and married within 12 weeks of meeting in 1990. We were married 15 ½ years when he was found to have a Malignant Brain Tumour. He died within 14 weeks of diagnosis. I had a very happy marriage to Stace.
(Stace – I thought had a ‘funny name’ but he was named the same as his father and was known as Stace within his family home.)
In 1990 when we married I had 7 daughters and no grandchildren. Now I have an assortment of son-in-laws and 16 grandchildren.
I think too Ann and Julian had a happy marriage. They sounded as if they were very happy. One can always tell.
Ann and Julian came over to Australia a 2nd time in 2005 and we had another night out at Tweed Heads in NSW a fortnight before Stace died. That was so good for Stace – to see Julian again.
Thank you again for your email. I’m sure you will all find the courage to bear this sad time with all your loving memories. Please accept my deepest Sympathy. Love from Lorna Virgo X

Condolence from Ted Blair on January 24th, 2011 1:24 PM

Leigh & Family

So very sorry to learn. Even though, I know you mom wasn’t well and Troy indicated it might come to this. I deeply sympathize in ways words can’t describe. It’s interesting how you can shed some tears for the pain of others even though I never met her. If she was any reflection of you she was a wonderful person that will be sorely missed.

It’s hard to see at this point, but her suffering ends even though yours continues. The emptiness and void she leaves is tough to fill, but hopefully there are parts of her in each of you (including grandkids). Keep her legacy going by reminding the kids who their grandmother was and all the wonderful things about her.

Ok enough already. I am sending you an electronic hug and need to wipe some tears before someone assumes I am having a nervous breakdown here at work.

Warm sincerity.
Teddy aka “Farmer”
