David William Allen, in his 65th year, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, just as the sun was rising.
David’s life partner, Laura, will always cherish his love of food, cooking, playing golf, enjoying live music together, and time spent at the beach. So many beautiful memories will be held close to her heart. He also took his role as a dedicated “Dog Father” very seriously, deeply loving his time with Carter and Auzzie.
His son, Justin, has fond memories of playing baseball, having his Dad serve as his coach, and travelling across Canada together with the team. His daughter, Jessica (Zak), will always remember her Dad introducing her to gaming, and the incredible fun they had playing Mario Kart together. Dave’s stepchildren, Alex (Ioana) and Erin (Dima), will fondly remember his love of sports, office pools, and fantasy books.
He was welcomed into peace by his parents, Bev and Bill.
Dave will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Jill (Jim), for his quiet strength and great sense of humour. He will also be deeply missed by his Aunt Carole (with whom he loved to play cribbage), his brother-in-law, sister-in-law, extended family, and a large circle of close friends who meant the world to him.
David had an amazing career, dedicating over 40 years to Canada Cartage. His dedication, calm demeanor, willingness to help, teach, coach, and listen will always be remembered by his Canada Cartage family. Dave’s impact is beautifully reflected in the many kind messages received from colleagues, including: “He was a legend,” “I always wished we could clone him,” “I never saw him angry,” and “He was so knowledgeable and patient.”
This tribute to Dave rings just as true in his personal life. We are all better for having known him and for the precious time we shared together.
As per Dave’s final wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Special thanks go out to all the amazing Nurses and Doctors at South Huron Hospital (Exeter, Ontario). The care that Dave received, along with the compassion that was shown to my family, will never be forgotten.

Although I met Dave later in life, he became a great friend and I can echo the words that were said by people he worked with. I’ll always remember the long night standing in the driveway chatting and our time on the golf course. Rest in peace, my friend and keep the greens ready.
