MORE: John “Wayne” of Lucan

1943-2024

Surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer, Wayne passed away on September 30, 2024 at Jessica’s House, Exeter at the age of 81. Wayne was the devoted husband and best friend of Dianne for 36 wonderful years. Survived by his loving sons and their families: Bob (wife Shayne, children Kirk and family, and Shanna), Mike (daughter Caitlin), Chris (wife Bridget, children  Connor, Carter, Chloe, and Cooper) and by his loving step-daughters and their families: Michelle (husband Mike, children Danielle and family, Theoren and family, and Stephane), and Tammi (late husband Chris and daughter Adrienne). He will be dearly missed by his siblings Jim (late Joan), Margaret (late Joe), Doug (Brenda), and Bill (Noor) and by his two sisters-in-law Grace and Donna. Wayne was a proud and loving grampa. He was a caring uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Wayne was so proud that over his lifetime he donated blood to the Red Cross 214 times, stopping only when he turned 80 and became ill.

Special thanks to Dr. Caroline Bryk, family physician Dr. Jacques Raphael and Dr. Joanna Laba, London Regional Cancer Clinic, Stratford Hospital Cancer Clinic Dr.’s and team, and Dr. Ming Lam, nurses and volunteers at Jessica’s House for the care and compassion shown to our loved one. Thanks also to dear friends Grace and Dick Foskett for their continued caring and support over the past eighteen months.

Wayne’s last wishes were that he be cremated. A small family celebration of life will be held in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Jessica’s House would be appreciated. The peace and tranquility of this community hospice brings great comfort to patients and their families. Alternatively, please consider carrying on Wayne’s legacy by donating blood to the Canadian Blood Services.
