At LHSC-Victoria Hospital, London on Monday, April 13, 2015 of Exeter and formerly of Brussels, in her 55th year. Beloved wife of Rick Smith for 32 years. Dear mother of Kendra and Brad Holden of Tillsonburg, and Allison Smith at home. Beloved daughter of Glenn and Jean Bridge of Brussels. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Bob and Laura Bridge of Brussels, Scott and Joan Bridge of Wingham; and Floyd and Marg Smith of London. Predeceased by her mother and father-in-law Bruce and Mabel Smith.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, Exeter (1 street west of Main) on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM, where a memorial service will be held on Friday, April 17th at 11 AM. Cremation with interment Brussels Union Cemetery.
Donations to the London Health Sciences Foundation – Regional Cancer Program, or the South Huron Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

I was Kendra’s teacher in Grade 2 quite a few years ago. I remember how caring and concerned Karen was as a mom. She was thoughtful, kind and always willing to do what ever was necessary to help out not only her child, but the other children in the class too. We were blessed to have known her. God’s blessings to each of you.

Please know that you are deeply loved and appreciated. Our hearts are devastated, with Karen’s passing. Rick, Kendra, Brad and Allison you are in our conversations with God. Lean on Him as you travel through the valley of death, He knows the way through because He travelled there when His son died. Karen was life and joy, she lived fully. She will be held in our hearts forever. There is a time to cry, there is time to laugh, there is a time to be angry, there is a time to be accept the horrors of this journey. You are not alone!

We were devastated to hear of Karen’s passing. We had not been aware that she was ill again, and it wasn’t til we read the Times Advocate today that we found out that she had lost her battle.
