Dear friends,

While I’ve been in close contact with the Lausch’s throughout Kim’s long fight, Fortners, Scarboroughs and Rineharts – I wanted to send my condolences to you as well as to the Lausch family. Matt’s suffering throughout this struggle has been very upsetting and his ability to always put Kim before himself was evident all throughout their beautiful relationship, marriage, life together, and this battle. I have not seen your suffering through the same close-up lens, but no doubt this has been a very hard time for all of you as well.

Kim touched all of our lives and she made my best friend the happiest man on earth. I send my best wishes to you all through this very personal and sad time. I will be there to help and support Matthew with anything he needs going forwards, and I offer my support and love to you all as well.

יִתְגַּדַּל וְיִתְקַדַּשׁ שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּא

Kim lead a beautiful life and meant so much to Matthew. May she have peace now after a long and tiresome battle, and may we remember all the beautiful memories when we were blessed with her humour, her presence, and her love for life.

Mike

I am deeply saddened by this news. I had the pleasure of going to high school with Kim and playing sports with both her and her sister, Michelle. The Fortner Girls were great teammates and they had the biggest hearts. They were always so positive and so funny. I will forever remember Kim for her big smile and her one of a kind laugh. She was a real individual that had such a strong and selfless energy about her; and after getting to know the rest of the Fortner crew at hockey it was really no wonder… because they were all like that. Such a wonderful family; Lynn, Charlie, Michelle, Allan, Meri, and Matt, my deepest sympathy goes out to you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Erin.

Condolence from Glen Gomes on October 3rd, 2011 12:32 AM

Matt and Kim’s Family,

Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know that they are happy.
Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.

Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.
Thinking of you at this time of loss.
May it make your sorrow
Easier to bear
Knowing there are others
Who understand and care

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness I feel. Kimmy will be missed and remembered .

With heartfelt sympathy
Glen Gomes
