GODDARD: (Hay) (Dettmar) Doris ” Scotty” of Hensall, formerly Exeter

Peacefully at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 Doris “Scotty” Labelle (Hay) (Dettmer) Goddard, of Hensall and formerly of Exeter, in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Herman Dettmer (1982) and the late Dr. John Goddard (1998). Dear mother of Joan and Peter Karstens of R.R. 2 Zurich, Jane and Sam Brady of R. R 2 Centralia, David Dettmer of R.R. 2 Centralia and Steven Dettmer of Exeter. Loving grandmother of Anthony and Jenny Humphrey, Sara-Jane Dettmer Haines and Jake Dettmer Haines and great-grandmother of Avigail and Adelaide Humphrey. Fondly remembered by the Dr. John Goddard family, Beth and Doug Jamieson (Scott Jamieson, Heather and Christine Allen-Jamieson and their son Evan), Peg and Dennis Mock (Jeff and Donna and their children Elliot, Georgia and Jackson), John Goddard and MoHon Ang and Joan Goddard and Peter Henry. Sadly missed by her sister Pat Cook and husband Doug of Hensall and her many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sisters and their husbands Hazel and Harold Murray and Mabel and Victor Jeffrey. Her sense of humor, unconditional love and gentle spirit will hold her close in the hearts of family and friends forever. As an artist, her paintings reflected her love of nature and Huron County.

Cremation. A celebration of Doris’ life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the R.E. Pooley Branch 167 of the Royal Canadian Legion, 316 William St. Exeter. Interment Exeter Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or South Huron Hospital Building Fund.
