At South Huron Hospital, on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, of Grand Bend, and formerly of Thamesford and Lucan in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Carol (Hume) Gledhill for 59 years. Dear father of Larry and Anne Gledhill of Bancroft and Thamesford, and Lisa and Alex Hossack of Thamesford. Dear grandfather of Kyle and Alisha, Eric and Martha; Larissa, Marshall, and Clarke, and great-grandfather of Janet; and Mason. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Shelagh Gledhill of London, Pat Gledhill of London; Sharon and Brian Francis of Renfrew, Len and Annette Hume of St. Catharines, and Bob and Joyce Hume of Mitchell. Also missed by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Richard, and Robert Gledhill. Allen founded and operated Oakwood Transport until his retirement, and was so pleased that the business has remained in the family.
A Celebration of Allen’s life will be held at the Oakwood Resort, 70671 Bluewater Highway, Grand Bend on Sunday, October 29th from 2:30-4:30 PM, with Words of Remembrance held at 3:30 PM.
Cremation with a private family inurnment will take place at Exeter Cemetery, prior to the Celebration of Life. Donations to the South Huron Hospital Foundation – Jessica’s House would be appreciated by the family.

I am so saddened for the loss of my great friend and mentor of sixty years. He fought a very courageous battle for the past two years and I spent a lot of time with him chuckling over the good old times. Sorry for your family ‘s loss. I didn’t know Allen on a personal level. He was a customer of mine, when I worked in GrandBend. Some people leave a lasting memory. Allen was always friendly, and shared some of his life with us. I enjoyed hearing about his business, and his family. He was very proud of both.
