Helen McKinnon

December 31, 2011

Born on October 1, 1913 in Kenora, Ontario, died peacefully in Hensall on December 29, 2011. Helen was one of seven siblings and was predeceased by her father Hugh Bathgate McKinnon and mother Edna McKinnon, brothers Hugh, Billie and Ed, sisters Dorothy Higginson and Monica Jackson. Helen will be deeply missed by her sister Lorna Cooke Tetro, plus her many nieces and nephews from the McKinnon, Cooke, Jackson, Dalton families.

Helen’s family moved to Ottawa in 1945 when her father became the MP from Kenora / Rainy River in McKenzie King’s parliament. After 5 years in Ottawa Helen started a career as a civil servant in Toronto. She was a long time resident at the Empress in Peterborough before moving to Hensall this year. Helen lived a healthy, graceful life and was greatly admired by her family.

Cremation.   A private family ceremony will be held in the spring.

Dear grandmother of Kyle, Jessie; Jason, Cory, Daniel; Karl and Mandy, Jackie, Connor; Lucas, Samantha; and great-grandmother of Jackson. Dear sister-in-law of Rocky Robb of London, Jean and Don Robinson of Aylmer and Meredith Robb of Ilderton.

Barbara (Clark) Burrows

Peacefully, after a courageous battle, at Parkwood Hospital, London on Sunday, December 25, 2011, of London in her 76th year.  Missed by her children Roger (Dianne), Nikki, Robert and James (Sarah).  Survived by 12 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter, her brother Jack (Joan) and her husband David Burrows.  Predeceased by her son Douglas Aoki, her parents Ellen (Nellie) and John (Jack) Clark, sisters Irene Pamplin and Joyce McCoy and brother Ronald.

Special thanks to the nurses and staff of 7th floor-University Hospital and 3A East-Parkwood for their encouragement, support and care while Barb fought the battle and for ensuring her comfort and dignity throughout.

Barb’s friends and family are invited to a celebration of her life at Parkwood Hospital, Western Counties Wing, Chapel of the Good Shepherd (enter at Parking Lot 1) on Thursday, January 12th at 11 AM with Rev. Darrell Shaule officiating.  Cremation.

Cremation.  A graveside service will be held at Exeter Cemetery on Wednesday, December 28th at 1:30 PM.

Mabel Irene (Workman) Stanlake

Peacefully at Exeter Villa on Monday, December 19th 2011 in her 97th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Norman Stanlake (1997). Cherished mother of Douglas and his wife Patricia of London, Eleanor of Toronto and Barbara of Whitby. Dear grandmother of Jordan (Susan), Sabrina and Samantha; Nicholas and Alexander. Proud great grandmother of Makayla. Special aunt to Gwen O’Rourke, Joan (Nick) Vandermey, Marg Dale and Ken (Pat) Britton. Predeceased by her sister and brother in law, Olive and Herbert Britton and her parents David and Hannah (Thomson) Workman. Mabel was a resident on Thomas Street in Exeter for over 60 years, a business partner with her husband in the operation of the Highland Hill Dairy, a teacher in several one room schools in Huron County, a very active member of Caven Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the South Huron Hospital Auxiliary, and a treasured friend of many in the Exeter community.  A thank you to Dr. Steciuk, the entire staff of the Exeter Villa, members of Caven, her neighbours and relatives for their care, comfort and concern.

Beloved daughter of Lois Noland and Allan Cunningham of RR 2 Lucan. Cherished sister of Jesse, Drew and Sarah. Dear granddaughter of Gladys Cunningham of RR 2 Lucan. Dear niece of Glenn Cunningham, Marie and Ken Holland, Elaine O’Neil, Dr. Iris Noland and Dave Russell and Wilda Thomas. Rachel will be missed by Carver and Yvonne, Emily, Jenny, Yvonne, Michelle, Danni, Zena and all her wonderful friends. Predeceased by her grandfather Roy Cunningham and her grandparents Margaret and Earl Noland.
