Cameron James Flannigan
December 27, 2010
After a valiant fight with cancer, at LHSC-Victoria Hospital on Sunday, December 26, 2010. Family members were by his side. Cam was 20 years old and lived with his family just outside the Granton community his entire life. Will be sorely missed by his parents, Kevin and Judy, siblings Kori, Nyan and Logan and grandmother Alice Paterson (Lawrence) and grandfather Bob Flannigan both of London. Shocked and saddened aunts, uncles and cousins are Lynda and Ken Carr and children Scott and Donna, Cynthia and Brian, James and Pam; Lynn Baines and children Jerry and Nina and Tammy and Rudy; Dan Flannigan and children Amy and Scott, Wes and Melanie, Stephanie and Jamie; Nancy Flannigan and Mike Cavanagh and children Jason, Craig and Sean; Susan Knutson and children Niall and Michelle; Dan Van Wyck and Suzanne Merriam and children Cassandra and Spencer; Elizabeth Van Wyck and Bill Smart and children Mia and Aly. Predeceased by grandmother Irene Flannigan and uncle Mike Baines.
Although young, Cameron enjoyed the things in life that any young person experiences. He played competitive soccer, where he learned the value of teamwork and friendships, thoroughly enjoyed his first job working on the farm for Tom Dobinson, and was a real believer in the importance of family, including the fun had at family reunions. Many competitive card games and online computer games were played in the Flannigan home with both family and friends. During his illness Cam remained an integral part of the family, giving directions and advice to his siblings from his bed in the living room. Cam indicated how nice it was when we had the snow days recently because the family had the opportunity to cozy up in front of the fireplace and just be together. Cameron loved his family. Cam’s death leaves a hole that it is impossible to imagine filling, but his zest for life and his grace and courage in handling his illness will be in our memories forever. Special thanks to friend Melanie Dodds who told us she would see us through the entire journey and remained true to her word. Also thanks to the community of Granton/Lucan – your kindnesses and generosity will be remembered by us always.
